Auto Body Tips For Brakes
You tap the break dozens of times a day. So much so you may not even realize something could be going wrong. Brakes are something you want to keep your eye on. Yes, there are fail safes put into new cards by many auto manufacturers, but why take chances. Here are some things to be on the lookout for.
Hit The Brakes
If you notice the brake pedal is sticking or sinking, you need to get it checked out. Failure to do itcould get you or someone around hurt very badly. Beyond just costly autobody repair, your safety could be heavily in jeopardy.
Some other signs to watch out for are noises you know are not supposed to occur. Grinding, squeals, screeching, scratching, bouncing and knocking are all signs something is not right. Call right away and get your local mechanic to check this out.
You would think I would not have to say this, but if you smell burning that can be a sign of friction and major brake damage and failure. As a general rule, there is not a“good” reason to smell burning with your automobile or any gas powered machine.
Don’t Ignore The Check Light
If you see a light come on for maintenance, do not ignore it. Get it checked out right away.
But why wait..?
Time is no friend of brakes. Have a regular maintenance schedule for you car and brakes. And always have your technician check the brake fluid when you get your oil change.
In Fact..If It Don’t Feel Right
Even if you take your car in and it is not for brake problems, the odds are real good what you thought was brake problems was some other part of auto system that was just as important.
Even Better..Have A Regular Maintenance Schedule
No one has ever regretted over inspecting their brakes. Make sure to have a copy of your recommended maintenance schedule for brakes and then put these in your calendar. If you have a digital calendar, even better. The time to think about braking is not when they are failing.
